We are extremely proud that we have the SwimMark 'Essential Club' accreditation (formerly 'Swim21 Club'). We've held this accreditation in its various forms continuously since 2009, and we were the first club in South Tyneside to achieve it. We also held Sport England's Clubmark accreditation when it was available to Swim England clubs.

In the past we've been praised for the high standard of our submission, with Swim England's regional panel stating:

"The regional panel were extremely impressed with the standard of your file and the good practice that you demonstrated within it"

About SwimMark

What is SwimMark accreditation?

SwimMark is Swim England’s quality standard for clubs. It recognises nationally and regionally the clubs that are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members.

SwimMark is not just a badge of honour. It is the primary module for clubs showing that we have good governance, are growing membership, developing our volunteers and ensuring that the club's activities are sustainable and in line with the club's objectives. It is accredited every two years.

As a parent it is your guarantee of quality provision for your child. SwimMark is a development tool that allows swimmers, teachers, coaches and those responsible for developing programmes to continually improve.

So, why should I look for a SwimMark club?

Every SwimMark accredited club provides high quality, safe, effective, child-friendly services for the benefit of their swimmers and non-swimming members. It’s about putting the swimmers first and ensuring young learners follow the pathway Swim England recognises for training and competition.

Every SwimMark accredited programme is offering the best way to learn how to swim. Specifically it’s about ensuring the programme is delivering quality lessons based on the Learn to Swim Framework (LTS) run by fully qualified teachers in a safe and appropriate environment.
